In recent years, an increasing number of Chinese tourists have chosen Italy as their travel destination. However, during their travels, language barriers, the need to download dedicated apps for hailing taxis, and inconvenient payment methods have posed significant challenges for many Chinese tourists. To address these pain points, the AppTaxi taxi mini program was developed, providing tourists with a convenient and thoughtful taxi solution.

The AppTaxi WeChat mini program, through innovative design, helps Chinese tourists easily hail taxis without worrying about language communication barriers, making the entire usage process smoother. This not only enhances the travel experience for Chinese tourists but also allows Italy’s taxi industry to better serve international visitors.

How Did We Address User Needs?

1. WeChat Mini Program: Scan to Use, Easy and Convenient

We migrated the core functionalities of AppTaxi to the WeChat Mini Program, thoroughly optimizing the user experience:

• No App Download, No Registration Required: Users can simply scan the QR code of the mini program at the airport, hotel, or tourist attractions using WeChat to directly access AppTaxi services.
• Flexible Scene Deployment: We recommend that clients display mini program QR codes at airports, hotel lobbies, and popular tourist spots in Italy, allowing tourists to scan and hail a taxi anytime. This convenient model greatly improves service accessibility, aligning with the usage habits of Chinese tourists.

2. Non-Intrusive System Integration, Preserving Original System Stability

To avoid large-scale modifications to the existing AppTaxi backend system, we adopted a non-intrusive integration solution:

• Wechat Hub Technology: Through Wechat Hub technology, we achieved seamless integration with the AppTaxi backend system without deep modifications to the original system.
• Quick Access to WeChat Ecosystem: Wechat Hub technology helps us cost-effectively and quickly integrate AppTaxi into the WeChat ecosystem, providing Chinese tourists with a familiar usage environment while maintaining the stable operation of the original system.
• High Reusability: This solution is very flexible and can be reused for other SaaS systems in Europe in the future, helping more industries quickly access the WeChat ecosystem to serve the Chinese market.

3. Chinese Interface: Breaking Language Barriers

Many Chinese tourists face difficulties hailing taxis in Italy due to their inability to speak Italian or English. To address this, the AppTaxi mini program features a specially designed Chinese interface, with all operations and information displayed in Chinese.

Users only need to input their starting point and destination to easily complete the taxi-hailing process without direct communication with the driver. Key content such as maps and fare information is also displayed in Chinese, providing users with greater peace of mind.

4. Supports WeChat: Familiar Payment Method

Chinese tourists are most familiar with WeChat Pay, while many taxis in Italy still primarily accept cash, which poses inconvenience for visitors. The AppTaxi mini program specifically integrates WeChat Pay, allowing users to complete payments just like they would in China, eliminating the need to carry large amounts of cash or use unfamiliar international credit cards.

5. Real-Time Location and Route Display: Making Taxi Hailing Safer

By integrating Google Maps, we provide users with clear real-time location tracking and route planning:

• Users can check the current location of the taxi and the estimated arrival time at any time.
• During the journey, users can monitor the vehicle’s route in real-time via the map, ensuring safety while using the service.
• After confirming the destination, the mini program also provides a clear fare estimate, making the pricing transparent for users.

6. Coupon Promotions: More Affordable Travel

To attract more tourists to use the service, the AppTaxi mini program features a dedicated coupon function. Tourists can receive taxi discount coupons through the mini program, allowing them to use the service at more favorable prices during their travels. This initiative has encouraged many first-time users to try AppTaxi.
